The city of Hollywood is located in Broward County, Florida, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. This beach city has one of the most user-friendly oceanfront boardwalk in Florida, with its paved pathway where thousands of people rollerblade, jog, bike, and run each year. Hollywood was founded in 1925 by Joseph W. Young after the town of Hollywood, California. He dreamt of building a motion picture colony on the East Coast similar to that of its namesake on the West Coast. Previous to its founding, in 1920, Young had purchased thousands of acres of land, and named is up and coming town “Hollywood by the Sea.” He did so to distinguish it from his New York real estate venture, “Hollywood in the Hills. As Hollywood is a planned city, the town was built around Hollywood Boulevard as its main thoroughfare.
